Water Festival

The Coastal Water Festival is an educational and hands-on event for elementary level students. Students learn the water cycle, how to build an aquifer, do a watershed assessment, learn about water conservation indoors and outdoors, and have a hands on experience with aquatic life.

Water Festival

Traditionally held in the fall each year, the Water Festival invites school children for a day of environmental education and lots of fun. Students participate in games, interactive exhibits, arts and crafts, educational and recreational activities, all designed to impart information and inspire reflection on our most important natural resource. more less

With its 2005 "Make A Splash with Project Wet," North Habersham Middle School (Clarkesville, Georgia) was named the 2005-2006 Georgia Project Water Education for Teachers (WET) School of the Year by the Georgia Environment Protectional Division. 

Principal objectives of the Chatham County-Savannah children's Water Festival are:

  • To facilitate direct student and teacher interaction with water professionals;
  • To provide teachers with resource materials; and,
  • To develop career interests in environmental protection.
