 |
Beginning simply as an early-inning promotion at Savannah Sand Gnats games, Less Waters became a local phenomenon in 1998 and was eventually flush with
national notoriety. The popular toilet mascot brought a swirl of attention to the city, appearing in newspaper articles throughout the country and in a segment of Comedy

"LESS WATERS" MASCOTBeginning in 1998 with
his catch-phrase "fix leaks," the Chatham County-Savannah Water Conservation mascot "Less Waters" has
raised the area's attention to water conservation, generating hundreds of phone calls to the MPC's office.
"Less Waters" is utilized for public outreach and education. A typical event for "Less Waters" is a Sand Gnats game. "...Between innings in
the fifth, Gnic the Gnat lines up for a race around the bases against Less Waters, the promotional mascot of the Chatham County-Savannah Water Conservation Program. For a guy dressed up as a low-flow toilet, Less is a formidable opponent—he
has won six races in a row. This time, Gnic wins a close one. The fans go wild." Source: "A
Season In Savannah," by Joe Weisman.
